Saturday, July 19, 2025, I sang a concert at the Sacro Monte di Belmonte, in Valperga, Piemonte, Italy.

It is one of five sacred Mountain church complexes in Piemonte and Liguria, and a UNESCO protected site. The region wanted to bring music to these different churches, so I did master classes all day with students studying in Italian conservatories, and in the evening, I sang a recital of lullabies with my dear friend Diego Mingolla at the piano.

We have been working on this recital for a disk since I was pregnant with my son and he was awaiting the birth of his daughter, who are now eight years old! But with one thing leading to another, we never got around to actually recording it nor doing any concerts with it.  Now that we worked it up a bit, we hope to do both and get our project back on track!

We hope to have a serious recording of it in a great acoustic sometime this next year.  (Hopefully not as soupy as this church was.) However, the concert was beautifully intimate, the audience was super warm and we all had a wonderful time.  It’s probably not my best singing, but I am way out of practice, so I was pleased with the results. It has inspired me to get back in shape, vocally, and come up with some more recital opportunities perhaps on a bigger scale.
