Event Navigation

Titled, “Musical Fables and Fairytales,” this concert features soprano Laura Claycomb singing Witold Lutoslawski’s whimsical “Chantefleurs et chantefables.” Maurice Ravel’s “Ma mère l’Oye” and Igor Stravinsky’s “Petrushka” (1947), featuring Jarle Rotevatn on piano, rounds out the program.  Laura returns to Bergen, where she has sung the Tsarina of Shemakha in The Golden Cockerel and Tytania in Midsummer Night’s Dream.  She joins Maestro Lionel Bringuier, with whom she has previously sung the Lutoslawski at Stockholm’s Radio Orchestra and at the Los Angeles Philharmonic.

Young Artists’ Corner

My popular advice for young singers: The very first masterclass I gave, I jotted down a few ideas of things I wish I had known when I was just out of college; that advice has ballooned into this Young Artists Corner throughout my career. A book is forthcoming from this information, but in the meanwhile, there is plenty to read.
