For Texas-born Laura Claycomb, an international career began over 20 years ago at the Grand Théâtre de Genève, while still very young, as Giulietta in Bellini’s I Capuleti e i Montecchi. After that, she sang many other operas. Her versatility is impressively demonstrated: about 75 roles from Monteverdi to Messiaen has she already worked and sung. Her lyric coloratura soprano rang yesterday bright and colorful with wonderful height (determined also an interesting candidate for the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor), a performance made the appetite for more: her vocal technical skills were a guarantee for varied listening pleasure. Every aria was literally something special.
